How to describe your location to a recovery driver in Stockholm

You do not need an exact street address before contacting us. Start with what you know, then add a direction of travel, entrance or landmark. Your safety comes first.

Make contact from a safe place

Do not use the form or phone while driving. If your car has stopped in passing traffic, deal with the immediate situation first. The Swedish Transport Administration’s advice covers warning others, leaving the vehicle and road, and calling for help. Call 112 if life is in danger. Official guidance is linked below.

Once you can contact us safely, a phone number and location description are enough to start. Call directly if you need to explain the situation. Do not step into traffic to read a sign or get a better position for us.

On a major road, include your direction of travel

A road name may not identify which side the car is on. Give the road, direction and a nearby exit or clear landmark if known. Explain whether the vehicle is in a traffic lane, at a rest area or beside the road.

For example, you might describe a main road towards Stockholm just after the exit you passed. Add the exit name or number if you already know it. Mark uncertain details as uncertain rather than guessing an exact location. Read our short guide to engine trouble on the road as well.

In the city, distinguish the address from the entrance

A street name and number are a useful start. In a courtyard, garage or workplace, also explain access. Mention a gate, barrier, parking level or bay if relevant. The guide to help in a parking garage covers that situation.

Choose the correct area, such as Sundbyberg or Kista, but also provide the actual location. An area name helps us start in the right place; it does not replace an address or description.

Use GPS if your phone allows access

The “Use my location” button can fill in a position. Your phone’s Location Services and the browser’s location permission need to be enabled. On an iPhone, location can be disabled for the whole phone or for Chrome or Safari even though the website itself works.

If access is denied, read the help in the form or type the location yourself. You do not have to change phone settings to send an enquiry. GPS can be approximate and does not necessarily identify a garage entrance or the correct side of a road. Add a short landmark or access description where useful.

Connect the location with the problem

Explain whether you need help with engine trouble in Stockholm, running out of fuel or something else. Mention the vehicle type and whether it can roll. We assess on-site help for heavy vehicles; heavy-vehicle transport is not offered.

The details are sent to Assistans på väg for contact and assessment. Sending an enquiry does not confirm a job or arrival time. Speaking directly with the driver lets you add missing details and discuss what assistance can be arranged.
